Legally, the magazine was founded by the Department for Work among Women of the Central Committee of the Russian Communist Party, at the initial stage it competed with other monthly publications: Rabotnitsa i Peasant Woman (1932-1941), Zhensky Zhurnal (1926-1930), etc.: There, too, articles were published on "women's topics", magazines brought up women who were careless about their appearance.
