FED 2 camera, approximate year of manufacture 1958-1960 with an Industar 26m lensType C1 with sync, with selftimer, mushroom knobAbility to set shutter speeds without cocking the shutterCase number 789491Lens number 652290 See more retro cameras in my store The FED-2 camera was produced by the Kharkov Production Machine-Building Association "FED" (Felix Edmundovich Dzerzhinsky) for fifteen years from 1955 to 1970.For me FED-2 is a special camera. From early childhood, I was shown photographs taken by my great-grandfather, who worked during the Great Patriotic War as a war correspondent for the newspaper On Guard of the Motherland. In the postwar period, he bought himself a FED-2 camera, which much later, already in the 90s of the last century, lay within five minutes of access from one very curious child - me. And… one fine moment I just took this camera, bought a film and started shooting. When the number of shot films began to approach five, I got my first adequate photographs from a fully mechanical film camera (Chinese "soap dishes" do not count). Well, then let's go, let's go .... How it all ended you see.Why did I suddenly begin to write the details of my biography? But to show that the FED-2 camera is reliable enough that a child can use it (and not break it), that the FED-2 camera is simple enough that a child can use it (and get results), and that the FED-2 camera good enough to interest a professional photographer (I will make a reservation - to interest in the mid-50s of the XX century). Unlike the first-generation FED camera, which was a kind of domestic copy of the German Leica II camera, the FED-2 had more originality. The main difference between the FED-2 and the FED is the removable rear wall and the combination of the rangefinder and viewfinder. A diopter correction has been added to the viewfinder, and the rangefinder base has been increased. Moreover, the shutter mechanism switch is made in the form of an annular sleeve around the release button. One of the main advantages of the second FED model is a completely removable back cover.
